Holocaust Memorial Day
Was celebrated quietly in Stamford Hill today.

Even the Kosher supermarket was open.

I did see in the news that Cameron wants to commission a statue to recognise the holocaust in westminster, so that people never forget. Bit like the Kindertransport statue at Liverpool St.

What do you think we should do in remembrance? Or should we do anything, in case it offends anybody?

A state of democracy and opportunity - unlike so many of its terrorist neighbours.

They have been milking it to be fair and are creating ghettos where they were once invaders. The abused often become the a users.

Really not sure what else Europe has to do to satisfy this mob.

1 hour silence?

Wouldn't waste any more of my time debating with you. You are a stain on this club. Ironic as every time you buy a ticket, merchandise etc you line the pockets of a Jewish owner.

Re: Holocaust Memorial Day
Is the existence of the state of Israel itself not enough of a memorial?

As it is the media seem to find an excuse to keep it in the headlines every day. Their memory will always exist in the minutes silence each November 11th anyway. Is that not good enough?

How much more penance do the Jews want the non-Jews to pay? All the holocaust survivors I met in the 1960s seemed to want to do was move on and put the whole experience behind them - none of them wanted to keep shoving THEIR past life down MY throat ,to the cost of all else, at every opportunity.

You (YOU) want to remember, fine, but do it at your expense and in your own time. Me? I think the biggest respect anyone can give to those who lost their lives is by making the world a better place for all, not just a select few.

Re: Holocaust Memorial Day
Went to shul and had a short service and lit some candles not just for Jews but for everyone that has suffered in genocides before and since the Holocaust, that was enough i think.

Re: Holocaust Memorial Day
The holocaust wasn't just about Jews though. Yes they bore most of the brunt in terms of numbers slaughtered, but so many others were killed in numbers too in order to fulfil this crazy eugenic fantasy. I

Re: Holocaust Memorial Day
Sorry meant to say I agree with MO that the best thing to do in the memory of all those killed is to learn the lessons of the past. A brief read on WHO some days and its pretty clear that many still prefer to hate entire groups of people.
